BRAC Growth Initiatives Detailed on New Web Site Direct access to detailed information about the Eglin Installation Growth Committee (EIGC) activities and the Joint Land Use Study (JLUS) is now available through Okaloosa County Global Information System (GIS). The interactive web site dedicated to supporting these efforts is located at http://webgis.co.okaloosa.fl.us/jlus. “Both the JLUS and Growth Management Plan under the EIGC will help local communities prepare for the projected BRAC growth. This website is a portal that provides access to all the information supporting these efforts,” said Jeff Fanto, the County’s Growth Project Coordinator. Unique features on the web site include a GIS search capability, called the JLUS Map Service, where residents can see if their property is impacted by the projected noise resulting from the new F-35 Joint Strike Fighter mission. Also available are detailed organizational charts which provide the names and positions of everyone involved in the two studies, from professional staff members, to elected officials and interested citizens. There’s also a “Contact Us” feature that provides the ability for anyone to send an inquiry or input directly to the staff. “We’ve worked very hard to ensure this site is a comprehensive collection of BRAC-related information. Anyone who spends a little time reading through the pages will be up to date on efforts completed so far,” Fanto added. “As the studies continue and information matures, we’ll update the site. Our goal is to have this as a one-stop resource for the public to stay informed.” Any questions or concerns please call 850-609-3014 or e-mail jfanto@co.okaloosa.fl.us.
